What if the site did yearly awards. Like have catagories such as Vampire of the year, Werewolf of the year, best new character, best thread, most posts...things like that. That way peoples hard work in the rping aspect gets recognized. Just a suggestion..what do you think?

Well, on like RBRP. There was RPer of the month. Soon that became nothing but a popularity contest and was stopped. Most posts blah. Whoopie.
I know of the Award Show thing that a site holds for like all vampires in the game, more known vampires will get picked of course.
Just not sure how well awards will go. How many werewolves are there? Not many to pick from.
Would be nice but I just don't see how well it would work out. Expressly with the activeness of the site.

ugh..awards..~pulls hair~ sounds too much like an 'awards show' and the city had plenty of those. each paper seems to have something to that affect.
now i personally like awarding good writing and RP. My suggestion is little blue ribbons perhaps, for RPers, Very much like RPer of the month, only there would be more than one winner. bronze, silver and gold. The small gifs could be proudly displayed in ones signature area.
discuss....~nods~

It was brought up, by Lena actually. For the same thing. Well something like that. Where we would send either though e-mail (which most likely will be the way done) a little award that can be printed and showed off as one liked for something like Roleplayer for the Month... I believe though it was based on a topic where one would post a thread based on the topic itself. Either in the One-Ways board or any of the other roleplaying boards.
So it is something we're working out trying to figure out (I wanted to do ribbons that were hand made and all special like to be sent out) but it is based around the humans who are writing and not the vampires themselves.

but it is based around the humans who are writing and not the vampires themselves. this is exactly how it should be...RPing and writing is human action FOR your vampire. Some of us take great pride in the time we take to sit down and write. And we also read some fantastic writing by others and want to say 'awesome job!'....plus everyone likes to know their stuff is being read and appreciated. i dont think the city needs any more in game competitions such as awards....there are enough award shows for in game stuff out there already.

I agree we dont need to have awards for in game stuff. I was thinking something that was just for the handlers. What I meant by Vampire of the year was something like who came up with the best story or cs for their vamp. I like the idea about the ribbons tho. Something that you can show others.

But I wonder if it will go off of post quality or quantity? The idea is nice, but there has to be some guidelines.

The idea is nice, but there has to be some guidelines. it would definately go off of post quality. and the first time i see the same people nominated over and over by the same group of friends i'll nix it all. what i'd like to see as a 'nomination' is a post or thread and the writers name (ic name is fine since some people dont want to give a real name)...then from that list everyone can read their work and vote accordingly. ~nods~..just my idea on it all.

I like it too...so pretty much everyone can nominate someone and then how would the winner be picked? If we do a poll it could just turn into a popularity contest. What if the Forum staff picked the winners?

What if the Forum staff picked the winners? I think your peers should judge your work, not just the staff....each RP or thread would have to contain a set guideline, basicly, all that makes a RP good. Characters, plots, spelling, punctuation, etc. If we add the direct links to the stories, no one has to go searching, the staff would make it easy as possibly for readers to judge these works. as for popularity contests..no worries....i usually screech when i see that happening ~remembers her fit on another forum~ ...

I can only see two things that staff would be able to do: - Go though every thread that is put up and read them. Those that are deemed as such then would be placed onto it but Beth already pointed out, that it is linked so what would be the point then
- Making sure that the same threads doesn't keep getting put onto the list. If that thread was put up for one month it can't be put up again next month.
Besides we can see who voted for so it won't be like we have to do a "revote" because the votes aren't adding up to x-amount of users. (We as in Admins)
