IGN and RP names..why are some different?

I've noticed alot of people in the past few years RP with one name, but their in game name is something sometimes totally different. Why? Whats wrong with the name you chose in game? Why the need for the confusion of another completely different name for RPing?
Nemesis is Nemesis in game and in RP.....different names leads to problems with second sighting and such. Maybe i'm just old school, i tend to think 'you chose that name for ingame, you RP that name'.

Well of course Aneres is Aneres either way. But if you take a common name, your not going to be able to get that.

See Mort was already taken, I really hate the idea of mort with lower case...I'd have to look again mort might be taken. So Mort IGN is DeathRider while the other guys get to have their name plus DeathRider (considering there might be another Ed out there). And Toshi had to be different because it wouldn't fit.

I would really hate to see someone RPing a char called Nipples or any other *coughs*interesting names. I don't think a char could keep a straight face while calling someone nipples. Don't say that these people who have odd names RP though. So that might be it.

Then you got the states running around, I saw North America at one point, the dogs, the fleas. Then we got famous who don't stay long if they do RP. I would like to know where people get the ideas for their IGNs but I doubt the odd ones RP lol

But yeah, if your char's name is common. Your going to have to settle with having a number or something different. Cassie23, name would sound odd. (Happened to be a childe of mine, though that was her 3rd try at a vampire. Will not sire her again)

So I'm sure there are like many reasons for it. Some people keep their IGN but change the char for some reason.

So yeah, my take on it. Do we really have any real oddball names on here? and I just remember the Nipples thing was on RBRP. So the odd names to make it to boards sometimes.

I don't know... I could understand if say "Beer Run" came and roleplayed and didn't want to use that name, but I've seen names where they're nice names able to be used if they wanted and not go by them at all >> that's what confuses me the most.

Yeah but even then that's a nameish and has a reason/point for it. There are others that's not even the case... would really love to know their reasons

Vanadesse is the IGN and the RP name, though of course she has her nicknames - Van, Vana, Ana, ect ect. I do have several alts that have absurd names. Such as North American (thank you Deadliest Catch ). But I wouldn't RP with any of them as I think it would be strange.
