I have a question for some of you...
Now I see a lot of people active on this board, but inactive on DA so much they are 'lost in the shadows.'
Does this mean that they should be unable to rp and sire due to this, or is it two completely different things?
A little help on what lost in the shadows exactly mean between DA and the rp world.
I mean I take it if you are lost in the shadows, then siring would be silly because you don't grow stronger and I mean who would want an inactive sire and be passed up by their own childer in a matter of months??

Being in shadows doesn't always mean inactive, after twenty four hours, if your vamp hasn't been logged into and you have the power of shadows, you go into shadows, it's basically a stealth mode, to keep your vamp from being attacked while you're away from the comp for awhile. In rp alot of people use it to move from one place to the next more quickly, I tend to use it more as a way to dramatically enter or exit threads, but I really don't know everything, you should probably let others reply, that've been around longer before you form your own opinion

Shadows Shadows (1)You can get Shadows (1) at Thievery Guild (1), for 1,000 coins. Quest: None Skill Description: Instead of dropping into the shadows after every 4 days that you are inactive, you will now go into shadows every 3 days of inactivity. While in shadows, you can’t be robbed, bitten or attacked. However, you can still be scrolled. Shadows (2)You can get Shadows (2) at Thievery Guild (2), for 2,000 coins. Quest: None Skill Description: Instead of dropping into the shadows after every 3 days that you are inactive, you will now go into shadows every 2 days of inactivity. While in shadows, you can’t be robbed, bitten or attacked. However, you can still be scrolled. Shadows (3)You can get Shadows (3) at Thievery Guild (3), for 4,000 coins. Quest: None Skill Description: Instead of dropping into the shadows after every 2 days that you are inactive, you will now go into shadows every 24 hours of inactivity. While in shadows, you can’t be robbed, bitten or attacked. However, you can still be scrolled. Also, Shadows (3) allows you to throw 2 Garlic Sprays at once.

So really, its how you want to play it. If I had to move Aneres out of shadows every time I wanted to post would be annoying wouldn't it. She goes into the shadows quickly, but Serena doesn't it because she only has level 1. Then there are those who don't have it at all that take forever to go into the shadows.
Now if your point is those who can sire but that's all the powers they have and they allow their vampire to sit there and sit there, then yeah there is a problem but there isn't much you can do about those lazy people. They want to RP but got enough powers to sire and SS not to be deleted. That's why some people ask in their siring threads (Active Fully Powered Sire).
RP wise, yeah people hide in the shadows but those who have SS would be able to sense them to a point I would think.
The only time I worry about people being in shadows if they have no SS and no shadows which means they haven't moved their vampire in quite some time and might get deleted.

Oh, nice. I didn't realize that people with SS can see others that are in the shadows so to speak. This applies to both RP and DA site? Thanks for the thoughts.... But one more thing...If you wanted to RP using shadows....what would be a fair rp for the different levels..Let's say I have a level 1, which I do... I can hide in shadows, but how big does it have to be? And two, If I can control shadows, how much can I control? Can I engulf just a corner in shadows or can I make a whole room pitch black, level two being a whole city block and three being half the city or something....Any ideas or suggestions?

Maybe Perception would have been a better one then SS. Think I'm looking at it that, if everyone was using Shadows 3 then no one would be able to see each other. Kind of boring. SS allows you to know about a vampire, and if you have locate 3, know exactly where they are at.
I have never played Aneres with the whole controling shadows. There had been way too many people RPing that way. RP wise I don't think she uses it. Valor has used it to ah lets say sneak a peek at what he shouldn't have while Aneres was showering.
Aneres could sense that something was up.
But anyway, when you SS a person, then of course it will tell you if they are Lost in Shadows. In DA, if you go to the sqaure, you can't see them. If they just went into the shadows and you hit more commands, you can see them through that. I've had that happen. Hit commands and see that there are more people then the eye can see. Then they go into deep shadows and they won't show up there either.
Finally, I found something.
Though I thought we had a post of how to work DA powers into RPing. Not finding it.
Shadows DA wise is hiding yourself, not engulfing a room or city block, I think that kind of power would be pushing it. "Oy I can't see a thing."

using shadows in RP isnt too hard. you have level 1, so, and this is just a suggestion, you can say you meditate...you dont fall into shadows for 4 days at level 1, so thats alot of meditating...lol most people use shadows as a way to 'sleep' undesturbed. Take AdaMaS for instance. He has shadows 3 of course, but in our house, he instantly falls into shadows. and here in our house you cant see him at all there are plenty of ways to RP the city's powers, you just have to try to think about the power and its limits...otherwise you'll end up powerplaying, and thats a no no.
