a city full or nothing but PURe vampires is a boring city.. Then perhaps you should find better players to play with? I play explicitly with vampire characters, and I have a grand and wonderful time free of boredom. If you want to RP something else, go to Gothador or some game that OFFERS such. If you don't want to be a vampire, don't play a vampire game. It's really not difficult logic.

I love roleplaying Vampires, but a vampire can be made from anything, anyrace, I feel that if you want to be a catpire, you can. I just don't have to Rp with you. There is no rule stating that you have to be a human Vampire is there?
as long as they char is a vampire, it does not matter anything else...

.. a city full or nothing but PURe vampires is a boring city.. well...the game IS called VAMPIRES! A Dark Alleyway.......not teddybearkittypersonvampiresrawr. As Lena and Seyda's players said, there are other places for that. The point is....this ISNT a freeform roleplay site. its based strictly around the game. i dont think it has to be PURE vampires runny around...look at my character sheet. The point is, Vampires should be first and foremost in the characters traits. It should be the dominant factor. I play my character strictly off ingame concepts, though for her history, and fleshing out of the character, she's got something extra in her heritage....its not the focal point though. I think thats what many of us are trying to make clear. Too many people are creating totally unrealistic characters, barely recognizable as Vampires, lending to more powerplaying and godmodding..and characters that just simply wouldnt SURVIVE in a life of 'eternity'. I've never in my life seen so many crybaby, emo, 'i just want someone to love me' whining characters as I have seen created in the last 2 years.. . Vampires, and vampirism, should be the primary focus. When you think of vampires, you think of violence, blood, eternity, madness, bloodbonds, etc. Not 'oh woe is me....'. Its not that hard to incorporate different idea's of 'undead' lore into an original character without straying too far from the concept of the game. Kittie is even working to put a convenient piece of reference material together with the worlds different lore concerning the undead, so bits and pieces of all different kinds of things can be utilized in character creation or growth.

Just to point out something about the witches. Yes witches are used in a lot of vampire lore. (I say vampire because these creatures while having different names are the same thing as a vampire. We here in the Americans and other areas are just used to one kind.)
Now, as for having a talking cat pet. All for it, it's not the main character. If you want to make an alt for it, so that it's a 'guardian' or whatever fine be my guess. I have two wolves running around for Kisho and Kimi (named Kisho and Kimi) To help me limit the whole powerplaying idea. Same thing with Hide and seek... and just about any other 'different' thing I created. However, they do not bind nor are the used for falling inlove or anything they're simply to help move a story along.
For me it's more of the MAIN character being something non-vampire. I don't mind people making NPCs (and again Kisho and Kimi started out as such, and I based them fully around the powers that Chiru herself had gathered. Until I made them later on into alts.) And yes the 'coin vampire' for this site isn't played as a vampire... but a human with 'special powers' (think something like a necro someone who you would find at a location/shop and in this case he is either AT the Lounge or near it) He's also neutral and to keep with that idea he doesn't steal. (I use another vampire for that for this site lol)
I know people want to be different and I'm really all for people taken different things. Hell even different aspects of vampire lore (Chiru for example got her nails from a story I read about vampires in some culture who had razor shape nails used for cutting the throats of their victims and drinking the blood.) I had a friend who ADORED the idea of having metal teeth, but didn't want to have hooked legs so he just went with the metal teeth. They're all apart of the vampire lore...
So... the list I'm making will be based around those that are based around the ideal of vampires. (In outher cultures) and not just Eastern European Vampires. For example Aneres vampire deals with souls. Maybe and I don't know for a fact, one of the reasons her vampire is like the way it is, is because those type of vampires didn't 'feed' themselves on the blood but used the 'spirits' to do it for them. Right there makes her different then say a vampire that bites the neck and feeds... so there are ways to be based around the vampire stories and still stay true to the game. I just think that people are missing that point and I understand the NEED to be different and the WANT to be different. But there are ways to go about it while staying TRUE to the idea of this game... and that's sorta of what we're trying to figure out how to do.
I would NEVER tell someone how they have to play their characters. How they have to make them nor have I EVER done that other then when they're playing those characters OUTSIDE of the game and have only two powers and claim to be some god (or in one case zero powers and was a goddess who could destroy a fully powered vampire with one look of her eyes) I can however, push more people towards the idea of what type of vampires are out there and not be forced to stick with the same idea.

I just think we need to offer people or choices or that when they are building a char they don't have to resort to stealing concepts or ideas... The imagination is a brilliant thing, and to be honest, only those lacking in imagination or the confidence to build a character that has its own individuality and quirks would need to turn to another's concepts or ideas.

Wow, sticking my head into a hornets nest here, am I *blinks and looks around warily* I saw the poll has been closed, and I should keep my mouth shut, really.. *ponders that option, then discards it* but whilst I fully agree that this game is about vampires, I do not see that, what gets turned into a vampire, always had to be a human in the first place. I am very creative, thank you very much, and can create a human character in all its *cough* glory, and have done so before, but I enjoy going beyond that, because that is part of who I am, and my character will find reflection in that. Still, yes, I do agree that once turned, a character should stay as much as possible within the limits the game sets, and powerplaying is not an option anyway. My character will -aside from some individual quirks due to her previous non-human nature- match the vision of the modern western vampire in her needs, but she will be able to shapeshift into a dove instead of a bat *shrugs and brushes some imagined feathers of her shoulder* albeit - I have no intentions of using that ability often with her, maybe even not at all. I don't like necos and the like, and I am with all those here who say such characters have other rps they should write for, but nothing in the game orders a character to have been human before the turning, only setting certain limits for after that, and I have every intention on keeping my character move within those limits, thus having her vampiric, following the modern western vampire lore. But was she ever human? Nope, she wasn't ~ Wings' writer (not intending to add to this thread further, but felt I had to make mine and my character's point clear on this)
