~Human History~
Mandolin began her life as a young human child named Aislinn DoChara in the county of Kildare, Ireland on June 11th in the year of our lord, 1724.
Aislinn's mother Fiona was a seamstress working in the house of a rather wealthy landowner, where she made dresses for his wife and their daughters. Her father, Aaron was a painter but could only find work as a brick layer for a local mason.
Her family made enough money to get by in a small home for the first few years of Aislinn's life. When the girl was almost two, her father was called to the home of the landowner who employed her mother. Apparently her father was called in to do a portrait of the landowners nephew, a young lord named Pierce who had moved to France some years earlier and made a small fortune as well as gained a title.
The painting took a few months to finish, but when it was done the young lord was quite pleased with it. Since the painting had been done for the landowner and was to stay in Ireland, Pierce insisted that Liam, Fiona, and Aislinn all accompany him back to France where Liam would be employed as a painter in Pierce's household. Initially Liam said no, but Pierce insisted and offered not only their own home on his land to live in, but a nice sum of money to pay for the work Liam would be doing. So in 1726 the DoChara's packed up their tidy little house and moved to Paris, France. Aislinn was a little over 2 years old.
Upon arriving in France, the DoChara's started work right away. Liam was away with Pierce quite often and Fiona took up work as a seamstress again to bring in a little extra money. When Aislinn was old enough she took up schooling with Pierce's own daughters, Bella and Amandine. The three were close in age, with Aislinn being the youngest.
Pierce favored a very open form of teaching for his daughters and Aislinn was lucky enough to benefit from it as well. The girls learned to read and write in both the French and English languages in addition to being schooled painting, gardening and various botanical related practices, music, singing, dancing, embroidery and sewing, horseback riding, and even fencing. It was definitely not a childhood that lacked refinement or activity.
The years of early and middle childhood passed swiftly as the girls grew into young women. When Bella, the oldest, turned 18 it was decided that she would soon be marrying the son of a good friend of Pierces. Sadly for the young ladies, this meant that she would be moving into downtown Paris instead of staying in the fashionable country estate where she'd grown up.
